The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation extends an invitation to South African students to apply for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2024.

Bursaries are available for undergraduate studies in the following fields:

  • Archive and Records Management (Bachelor’s degree)
  • Library and Information Science (Bachelor’s degree)

The bursary covers tuition fees and registration fees. Please note that it does not cover expenses related to books, transportation, and accommodation.

Requirements:

Applicants must fulfill the following minimum entry criteria before applying (failure to meet these requirements will result in your application not being considered):

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • Your age must be under 35 years.
  • You should be a resident within the Gauteng province.
  • You must be studying or intending to study in one of the listed fields.
  • You should be enrolled or accepted at a recognized and accredited public tertiary institution in South Africa (bursaries do not cover studies at private institutions).
  • You should not be permanently employed.

Application Process:

  1. Download and complete the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Bursary Application Form 2024 (PDF) HERE.
  2. Along with your completed application form, submit clear copies of the following supporting documents (failure to submit these documents may lead to disqualification):
  • Certified copy of your ID document or passport.
  • Certified copies of all completed academic qualifications.
  • Proof of registration or provisional acceptance from a tertiary institution (on the institution’s letterhead).
  • Full official recent academic transcripts/results, if currently studying (on the institution’s letterhead).
  • Copies of any study-related quotes.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Proof of residence.
  • Motivational letter including: reasons for deserving the bursary, post-graduation plans, and the benefits for both you and Gauteng society.
